probably you missed one thing. the prediction of rain does have evidence independent to what the prediction is made from.

but for those fortune telling, when messages are given out, they create a psychological effect in which you may tend to work on something with such factors included. that means, you have certain tendency to think of such things, which may lead you to that "predicted" results, or that "predicted" direction, if not less.
