Subject: 情人節的浪費與殺虐動物

關小姐今天的專欄(2月11日)牽涉兩個話題, 都值得進一步討論.

在商業推銷的影響下, 情人節已經成為了香港社會的大浪費. 當中鮮花更是最奢華短命少社會利益的消費. 鄭經翰早前便已在其電台節目中呼籲將錢捐助公益, 但恐怕還是聽者藐藐.

禽流感SARS等症候恐慌令人類大量屠殺禽獸, 為合理化這些惡行, 語言上也要配合. 除了 '銷毀' 之外, 近日又有 '產品' 之說, 總之試圖將罪行輕化.

素食問題我近日亦每想及, 但想到當年馬克吐溫嘲笑素食主義者說食肉者反殺生的論調, 詰問難道植物就沒有生命? 而且人類為改變植物來適合自己食用 -- 最近的例子當然是DNA改造 -- 已經進行了多少的惡行? 只是猶如已被大量毀壞的海底珊瑚, 傳媒少報導或用美化語言, 大多數人避不願知而已.

希望更多人關心這些問題, 一起為世界尋得救他救己之道.
