第一次接觸幾米的作品, 是大慨在兩年前的網路上. 當時的幾米還未被人所熟悉.. 亦是我好奇心底下, 叫媽媽在香港幫我找他的書(我在溫哥華). 記得媽媽還問我"甚麼米? 咩黎架?"
事隔一年後, 媽媽才找到了他的書. 但她找到他的書是因為看到他的圖很美, 是當時的熱賣書和聽到很多人的好評才給我, 而不是記得我和她提起過. 所以, 我有點覺得很多閱讀幾米的人, 並不是因為欣賞幾米的作品而去買他的書, 而是因為潮流效應, 這現象在香港十分的普及.
另外, 我讀了多本幾米的書, 我不喜歡, 甚至是失望. 當初我要媽媽買他的書, 是希望他可以給我很多啟發. 可惜, 他每篇也很刻意的似到未到, 似深入卻非深入的賣弄著文字. 這令我十分之反感. 相比早期的麥嘜 (不是現在的麥嘜/麥兜, 太商業化了), 謝立文確是寫得出那種自然的深度, 不會令人看完有虛偽的感覺.
