Dear Patsy,

史大林的“名言”﹐"One death is a tragedy; a million
is a statistic"﹐很冷血。

但是近幾個月來﹐我對這句“名言”有些體會。自從
沙仕病爆發以來﹐我們每日從新聞報導上得知的都是最
新的死亡數字。直至有一天﹐當一名醫護人員因為照顧
沙仕病人而離世﹐傳媒就不斷用最煽情的手法去渲染那位
醫生殉職的消息﹐使人聞者心酸﹐見者心痛。但是鏡頭
一轉﹐新聞報導員就報導今天的死亡數字是XXX﹐電視畫
面隨即顯示那些統計數字。

為什麼會對一個醫生的離世就這麼大的反應﹖我不明白。
連傳媒這些專業人士的報導都這麼情緒化﹐更何況普羅
大眾。

可能幾年後﹐我們的腦裡只剩下這些數字﹐而不是因
病離世的病人和醫謢人員的名字。
