From a players perspective I too was slightly dismayed at a few decisions that the referee made on Saturday but whats new!!! This isn`t a direct and broad critisism of the referees in general, I suppose its ignorance on my part at times of not fully understanding a game that seems to change its laws every year!!!! My biggest single critisism was the time it took the referee to blow his whistle. There were many, many times when he seemed to let things go[for both sides] too long before a shrill blast. My fear at the time was injury which indirectly could have led to fistycuffs. Also, he could improve on his general use of the advantage rule, which again let both sides down.

It still amazes me how some referees storm into the changing rooms prior to kick off with a blunt, arrogant approach to lay down their interpretation of the law.You get an immediate impression of how the referee will be and we all seem to view this negatively before the game starts.Granted we should view each individually and work with them but it does leave negativity in your mind!!!.It would be a refreshing change if they could be more polite and somewhat upbeat with us.There seems to be more and more of them viewing us in a patronising manner,if we ask for clarification on any given law or circumstance, look out!!!

Bravo to Mr Cox on bringing some balance to the discussion, vested interest or not it still needed it!!!

Moving on, it was a great game to play in on Saturday. At last we seem to be offering good quality rugby to our incredible[and I do not use the word lightly] fanbase. They`ve been patient over the last 12+ months and on behalf of the players want to convey our most sincere thanks.I`ve stated before on the site how much of a difference it makes to us but want to reiterate it again, it makes such a huge difference!!!After scoring tries and jogging back for the restarts on Saturday the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end with a huge sense of pride to be involved with the team at the moment.Backs and forwards are working very well for each other and the team has gelled very well under Ieaun`s leadership. He isn`t the most verbal captain but leads from the front and isn`t afraid to call upon myself or Nick[Waldorf and Stadtler I suppose!!!] as more experienced players for assistance.

Bring on Ynysddu!!!! but dont be surprised if their league position belies their performance on Saturday, it`ll be a very tough game..........
