Mark Williams has been a wonderful servant to Abertillery RFC for many years and although he chose to retire at the end of last season, we fully understand why he has joined Brynithel to be with his mate also former green and white "icon" Dean Jones who is captain this coming season. We wish both Mark and Dean all the best for the coming season.

I must however refute the suggestion that we didn't support Mark financially last season when he was injured. As both you and all Abertillery supporters who attended the AGM are aware we stretched our budget to the limit. I agree with you when you say that we did not cover his "full" wages.... how could we? We are an amateur club now with limited financial resources for which we all strive extremely hard to aquire. However substantial amounts were paid to Mark during those difficult times.

As a club we have stressed to all our players that they need to obtain their own insurance cover to which we will contribute. To this end we have given hand-outs to this seasons players showing the type of cover they can get.

Once again I don't wish to get into a verbal battle and I wish both you and Mark all the best and of course you will both be always welcome at the park at any time.
