I don't remember seeing those kinds of outward displays of segregation! You might be a just a year or three older than me. My high school was integrated (Palmetto -- graduated in 1976). I do remember the projects on Dixie Highway and the use of the word "colored" (as well as the Yiddish equivalent) by my grandparents.

I also loved the Venetian Pool!! The only other FC person I ever knew of who had lived in Miami happened to have lived on the street that I did, across the street and a few houses down from where I grew up. How bizarre is that? That was Leslie Byrd.

You and I met at the 2000 reunion. I don't think we knew each other at FC. We did that scavenger hunt together (it was I think you, me, husband Scott Emmons, Laura Grunfeld, and Michael Brackney may he RIP).
