Theat was the day that it got to -64 overnight and was -35 when my car started but the VW transmission was frozen solid so I could not move it. Walked more than half way from PAradise lodge to the hill before Al Catheron picked me up with his transporter which only had first and second gear with the other two ( cold side of the garage ) frosen out.
Nearly froze my self that day and Al told me how lucky I was.
It still took a while before I got the right winter boots which happened after I nearly froze the soles of my feet because I was weraing rubber boots and my feet sweated , then had to spend a half hour getting the VW running in the parking lot by the main building.
Next day I got the Fabiano Mountain boots, silk socks, felt pads and never looked back.
Not sure what the temps werew that day which was probably in 70 or 71 when I was living at Jacks place in Bethlehm which was another cold year with temps often at -20 and not above freezing during the day for days at a time.
Could have skated on the parking area at Jacks place when the ground would get soft during the sunlight then freeze up like a hockey rink at night.

The very cold temps probably contributed to the high cost of heating the college buildings in both those years and did not help solve the funding shortfall which was a big part of why the college was closed down eventually.
