Ah yes the latest conspiracy theory about the Syrian natural gas pipeline the doesn't even exist yet.
There was an agreement to run a pipeline through Syria coming from Iran and Iraq that was finalized two or three years back with the backing of the Qatari government but it has not yet been built and if anything the civil war in Syria has stopped it from being built.
The theory just put forward is the Qataris are backing the opposition to stop the pipeline and maybe overthrow the Assad regime for their own reasons.
Of course we could also say there is a plot to prevent the repair and reopening of the oil pipeline across Syria which has been down since damaged by the Iraq war , or maybe that there is a plot to eliminate the Assad government because of some other commercial interest which the US has no direct involvement with.
Theories like this seem to pop up whenever there is a conflict to explain away the reasons in a way that is helpful to the people who come up with the theory to promote their own agendas .

Personally I think it is something more in the way of an internal struggle inside Syria stemming from the passing of Assad's father who held power for so long and people trying to gain advantage and maybe even take over the country and make it their own. could be any number of separate segments to the opposition from the Islamic fanatics to the other members of the ruling class in Syria who think they would be better as the top dog in the yard.
