Funny you mention the little giant .
Just watched the episode of storage hunters where they bought a unit with a little giant 100 in it.

If I ever get out your way , and hope I do ) I would love trying to make a damascus knife blank .
Might not be up to the finish work but think I could handle the forging with a little practice.
I used to rebuild folding pocket knives and made hardwood handles for antique clip knives , I was also pretty good at sharpening but never really tried to make the blade from scratch.
Somewhere here I have a half done blade that someone was making out of an old file that looked pretty good for what it was. some of that file steel was damn good stuff.
I think someone gave it to my dad and he used to use it for weeding like in digging out dandylions. If was never finished just shaped much like a marine blade I think but have not seen it for a while so do not really remember if it was a K-bar style or not.
I have my grandfaters 12 gueage he used when he ws in the home guard during one of the wars and think it is a US arms damascus barrelled double so might be turn of the century or even earlier. It has the external firing pins and hammers which seems like pre turn of the century but I never tried to really tie down the year it was made but it is damascus so not for smokeless powder.
Probably only good for over the mantle piece though my dad used to hunt deer with it back in the fifties when the shells were easy to find.

As you know I love damascus items. You just can't get that sort of craftsmanship without a lot of hard work and time.
