1971 or 1972? He was promoting the album, "Where's the Money". He and the band were very good, with a sound reminiscent of Django Rienhart and Bob Wills with a dash of humor added in. Frank Mullen opened for him (playing guitar, not Frank's primary instrument) The audience responded very favorably to his original tune, "Spray Your Pits". Mr. Hicks made derisive comments about Frank's performance, calling him "Fred Olelthorpe". Frank wrote a very humorous posting about it here a couple years ago.
