Every one remembers Pops and Margi I think they were an institution unto themselves and were always there I think , Pops for sure and he was probably one of the last to go.
Every one remembers the Dutch Treat but what was your favorite food there ?

Hmmmmm French fries and gravy the best and was popular down the Jersey shore like in Belmar so something I was already familloiar with, home made soups and some fine baked goods...
Hot Hamburger Sandwich anyone ?

But now how many remember the dairty Bar ?
Shakes so thick you could turn them upside down and they would not fall out of the deep cup at least till they began to melt around the sides and the best home made fries ever.

Steaks and good conversation at Hillwinds ( protected by Black Hand security ) with aged beef that melted in your mouth and good bands on the weekend when they raised the price of a beer for the touristas coming in to ski but lowered the price for the locals during the week.

Good food and good company at the Horse and Hounds with all the art on display around you.

Liam ( I think that is his name ) who owned the plow and stars in Cambridge bringing back MacKenzies as the Franconia Inn when we stopped uing it as a dorm, the only place in New Hampshire where you got Guiness on tap till they busted him for bringing it up from Mass instead of buying through the state liquor store ( they didn't offer it then and hey it was an Irish pub in the basement pub room ) and for those who remember , the pig roast celebration , watching the sailplane races from the easton Road by the Inn or the Skimobile races on the end of the field in the winter.

Long days hiking the trails to the four thousand footers all over the Whites ( Once climbed Mt Hamilton I think , the double peaak off the Kasncamagus after they had the road unofficially closed but not gated at -20 below when you got a winter vista of the wilderness or running the log roads till they stopped in the middle of nowhere , finding high pastures with wonderful Vistas at the end of obscure dirt roads that were really private cow paths to the sumer pastures.
Hiking through glens with moss so thick it looked like it grew at the beginning of the world or scrambling over and under rocks while following streams that only had real waterflow after the spring melt.
