Well he was THE football coach with more wins and championships over his carteer than any other and until his last few years he seemed to have been on the up and up.
As for the sex situation it seems to me tht if he reported the incident to the administration he probably did what was required of him back when it took place and the college board of trustees and president were more culpable than he was.
How the perpetrator continued to have privledges on the campus and apparently got awy with what he is accused of havig done for so long is most likely something we will never get to the bottom of no matter how much information comes out. However the people who were in charge when the first reported incident came to their attention were still running things when they fired Joe Pa and they probably should have been out long ago but for their connections with the patrons of the university and all the baggage that comes with the practice of putting sportschievement ahead of the good of the students.
This may be one of if not the worst case scenario to have come to light but it is certainly not the only case where the reputation of the college and the sports program was put ahead of real considerations and a coverup engaged in for a very long time.
Crap like this actually seems to be abundant in the college sports world with everything from paying the athletes under the table to this last revelation coming to light from time to time.
The NCAA is also culpable as they never laid down the rules strong enough to make anything stick and when something was discovered they usually only put a short term penalty on the colege then look the other way after the penalty stage is iover but do not make significant changes in their rules to prevent things from repeating or new things discoverd from being carried out.

How long I wonder was Joe Pa sick enough to not be really aware of what was going on and I also wonder if maybe he should have bowed out way back when when this first was discovered or if not have threatened to resign if something was not done to protect the students in the future.

Life can be seen as a succession of missed chances however Joes job was to run a football program not to police the campus so while he may be culapable he was certainly not the most responsible person in the chain of command for letting this go on as long as it apparently did.

OK Rant done and in my opinion it was and is a despicable situation that was let go too far for too long.
