I hide my identity for good reason (there is someone who comes to the forum who should not be on the forum...ah well!)
My take is this - and I am female.....10 years ago he was, what? 75/76 yrs. old - I know that people who grew up in his era (my parents for example (who have now both passed) most likely would have done the same thing - told someone they knew (each other) or the closest thing to the police but not the police - Some older folks grew up thinking that this was so shameful taht it was "not to be spoke" of - let's face it - that's true....WE of course would never do such a thing - we would report it immediately - Sometimes when I was speaking openly to my Mom when she was in her 70's/80's she would get silent/shocked at what I was telling her - she wanted nothing to do with certain information - I learned quickly not to "share" certain things with her after that. You can't take away the fact that he was a phenomenal coach and helped so, so many people/kids throughout his career. I also know from experience that people that grew up in his era DID keep secrets and those secrets ate away at them and had a little something to do with their early deaths..on top of whatever else ailed them. He did what he thought he was supposed to do and the sick MF'er who, to this day professes his innocence is the criminal.
