I know you meant to type 12 million illegal aliens Arthur though there are some estimates that up to 30 million might actually be here when you include all of the aliens who came here legally on a visa say for work or educvation and just didn'tleave when the visa was expired and those who come in as tourists for example then get fake documentation and stay.
Some have been here for decades , have jobs , pay income tax and are productive if still illegal contributors to the economy and society. others came here for less than legal reasons and no one really knows how many are here.
Even as far back as the clinton administration there were complaints about illegals and what it was costing states and the american taxpayer . documented proof of people who came here specifically for the free healthcare given to anyone who walks into the emergency room or attends a free clinic while the federal agencies that are supposed to be checking for legal status do nothing in that reguards and the federal public assistance people hand out to anyone who shows up without bothering to or deliberately no checking for legal status to be here.
Hospitals have records going back for decades for lost income due to uninsured people many of whom are not here legally or not US citizens.
Nothing wrong with a help anyone who comes through the door policy until it costs so much that hospitals close down and locals suffer as a result.
While the national media has picked up on some of the more famous criminal illegals the local papers and news services have many more that never make the evening news.
I feel for those of you in the critical border zone. there are enough problems here that I cannot imagine how bad it really is down your way and that is part of the problem with people who just will not face the fact that there really is a problem . Federla officers can stop ANYONE fort NO reason according to federal law. Doesn't matter if you are a citizen or not or have done nothing. they have that legal right under federal law. Once stopped by a fed they can demand proof of citizenship or any other id.
Non citizens are REQUIRED by fderal law to carry full identification on their person all of the time and produce it if asked for it by a federal officer. The arizona law requires reasonable cause to stop someone then reasonable suspician before asking for documentation. A fed can stop anyone anytime for no reason and demand proof of citizenship.

Thoseup to 30 million illegals are not all mexicans by any stretch of the immagination. There are plenty of people from a lot of other ethnic and national groups running around the country as well.
Why such a big fuss over the hispanic illegals ? it's all political on both sides of the argument and just another problem that no oe was willing to fully address for decades.
If the executive branch decideds that the ARIZONA LAW is uncconstitutional then the federal law which is less restrained is doubly so...
