I remembered because that weekend in '72 I had to take my GREs for grad school, which involved traveling to Saint Anselm's College in Concord. I didn't have a car then, but I had a ride with people who were driving to Boston for a Divine Light Mission event with the Guru Maharaj Ji (!) (a cherubic-looking blond girl whose name I've forgotten). There was a blizzard that night and the car broke down in Franconia Notch, so I had to hitch a ride the rest of the way to Concord, arriving really late. After the exams the next day, I traveled back to Franconia by Trailways bus the night of December 10th. The whole episode was a very Franconia type of experience--and hard to forget. None of my current students have that much hassle taking GREs, and they don't have to depend on Divine Light Mission followers to get there. But I'm glad I did, and it was fun (in retrospect).
