Bogota, Colombia in 1996, the government was crashing, they closed down parliament,and Ingrid Bettencourt was still a hostage. At night I heard the pitter patter of gun shots through my hotel window. The taxi's were on strike so were the hospitals. I walked everywhere with Caroline in a stroller. We lived there for six weeks, finally we hired a private car service that took us to the lovely countryside. But, I am not returning soon. The salt caves were fantastic.
The airport was so chaotic, I was surprised that plane took off, I am not kidding! Give me Europe any day. And I have been to Bethlehem, Israel twice. So I am used to being somewhat of an outsider. This could only happen to me, our taxi in Bethlehem was hit in the rear, no police, we just went on our way with a bruised bumper and jittery nerves.
