"If Win & his friends want to get together in Franconia, fine". You guys don't seem to realize that so far, Win and his "friends" (over 50, headed for 100 and beyond) are a wide array of past Franconia alumni - many of whom he never knew in the past, but met on Facebook and developed relationships with) - to have this many responses in such a short period of time is astounding AND UPLIFTING to me! There are a ton of people sharing this experience on Facebook and yet I go to the "Board" and people keep talking about negative things when other people are trying so hard to push through the muck and just have a good time with it.
I must tell you, I have been unemployed going on 5 months and the despair is heart wrenching and over the past several months just talking to my Franconia buddies and thinking about a reunion next August has really lightened my heart and given me some hope. We have spoken about so many, MANY different people from the past, shared wonderful stories, laughed so hard we cried, etc.
As for the terminology of needy and less fortunate - I find myself in that situation at present and have no problem with people saying that - I worked for the past 35+ years and I am proud of that and sometimes, through no fault of our own, we end up in a very difficult situation.
Can we all just lighten up, have fun, invite everyone to chime in and move ahead instead of back pedal? Email everyone you know and ask them to come to the Board - it wouold be a great use of time! Thank you ALL for being there - It warms my heart.
