Okay...truth be told...over the decades I have been the proud possessor of many water pistols (only the leaky, non-powered kind...and I never inhaled!)

So let me get this straight...Independent as a nation for 233 years and under the current constitution (except for letting Women and minorities vote) for some 220 years and the last time we had an armed resistance to defend our individual privileges...hmmm, the Whiskey Rebellion, that disturbance just after 1860 and the armies of the Klan, the Five Points and...

There are some statistics about deaths in the home of gun owners: family members kill each other, get disarmed and shot by the "bad guys" WAY more than any successful self defense.

The federales crashing the gates? David Koresh comes to mind but we did not have another Jonestown, and oh yeah, how much better it would have been to resist with arms when they took Elian Gonzalez.

What was it Wesley Clark said in the 2004 debate...I've got nothing against guns, I like guns. If you want assault weapons join the army...we've got lots of them.

Back to Mao...he was wrong about the Cultural Revolution too.
