Subject: The "Cisco fatty" story

Ahh, the dangers of social networking! There's this HUGE story, now known as "Cisco fatty", that's amazing on many levels. The short version is that last week a Twitter user sent out: "Cisco just offered me a job! Now I have to weigh the utility of a fatty paycheck against the daily commute to San Jose and hating the work." A quick reply to her said, "Who is the hiring manager? I'm sure they would love to know that you will hate the work. We here at Cisco are versed in the Web." Panwebdemonium ensued.

Stories are at:

Someone with a large amout of talent, humor and time then created this:

Then there's the story of an executive form the Ketchum agency who was presenting to FedEx's worldwide communications group on digital media at FedEx corporate headquarters in Memphis. The night before the meeting, he Tweeted: "True confession but I'm in one of those towns where I scratch my head and say 'I would die if I had to live here!'" An employee found it, was totally offended by it, and responded to the agency person. And to the FedEx Coporate Vice President. And to the Vice President And to the Directors and all management of FedEx’s communication department. AND to the chain of command at Ketchum. The Ketchum presenter did not take into account that many FedExers are native Memphians and are fiercely defensive of their city and their company. The story, with the response, is at

The moral? Please practice safe tweeting!
