Arizona was pretty much "unsophiscated" in those days....They gave us baloney sandwiches too,but they never refrigrated them and everyone got sick..
There was no draft board in Tucson so they bused us to Pheonix and put us up at the YMCA.
It was mostly cowboys and Mexicans and since I was the only one with long hair and the only one to fail they decided I must be "queer" and they all spent the bus ride home planning how to beat me up when we returned.
As soon as the bus reached Tucson,I waited till we stopped at the first red light,jumped out the emergency exit and took off running!
That's my War story...
