The first alledged incident the complainant and the mom were experienced scammers who had done similar things before to extort money . they might have lost in court had the case not ended with a convenience settlement to kill all the bad publicity ( which of course backfired because both sides got bad publicity from the media as a result ( dirty laundry always raises ratings or sells scandal sheets and the press is not nor has it been for years a disassociated news operation anymore. bottom line is the bottom line ).
The second incident was almost certainly engineered by the miffed prosecutor who wanted to go all the way with the first case but was blindsided by the settlement . general consensus was they put words into the kids mouth and the strange phenomenum of adults leading the child into remembering things that never happened applied.

So basically there was no proof that the alledged stuff took place.

Michael was Peter Pan in his own mind when it came to much of his private life. Neverland was an embodiment of that concept in the real world. there he could retreat from both the real world and time and go back and be the kid he never got a chance to be while he was growing up. People didn't understand him when he was in that frame of mind and attributed a lot of ulterior motives to what was probably an innocent retreat from reality into a fantasy world that he could afford to make as real as possible and which he shared with kids many of whom were much like he was growing up before he was whisked into public prominence.

People are willing to believe the worst of those who sem to have it better than they do. Jealosy and a cert6ain amo8nt of racial predjudice was more likely in play than any real criminal activity on michaels part, poor judgement maybe but probably no actual molestation.
