Subject: The old man and the Marine
In reply to: Fred 's message, "Lame ducking it...." on 00:30:50 11/08/08 Sat

In the summer of 2009, an old man walks up to the gate of the White House and says to the Marine on guard duty, "I'd like to see President Bush."

"I'm sorry, sir," says the Marine, "George W. Bush is no longer the president and doesn't live here anymore."

"Okay," says the old man as he walks away.

But the next day he returns. "May I speak with President Bush?" he asks the guard.

"Sir," the Marine replies, "as I said yesterday, George Bush isn't the president and no longer lives here."

"Right, right," says the old man as he walks away.

The next day he's back: "Could I please speak to President Bush?"

The Marine speaks firmly. "Sir, George W. Bush doesn't live here. He is no longer the President of the United States. Do you understand?"

"Oh, I understand," the man says. "I just like hearing you say it."

The Marine snaps to attention, salutes and says, "See you tomorrow, sir."
