Subject: Festung Humpty Dumpty

There's a theme, though, and that is the fact that so many people are willing to suspend critical thinking here, and many of those folks inhabit/infest the stinking corpse of what used to be the GOP.

They're fast moving off the stage of relevance, folks, and they're doing it to themselves, because what they believe is dog waste from top to bottom.

This week the Republican governors will caucus and try to see if there's a way to put Humpty Dumpty back together again. Everyone with a blog or a radio show has been bloviating on this subject and most of it comes down to accusing all others of not being proper adherents of the One True Faith and Right Honorable Keepers Of the Flame.

What we've got here, folks, is an old fashioned schism with all the trimmings that Henry VIII and the Bishop of Rome would have wanted, complete with an Inquisition and plenty of red hot pokers to run the heretics off the castle grounds with.

Part of that is the incessant barrage of nonsense like this particular canard. People who buy this malarkey are the same people lining up at gunstore counters across the country and putting yet another M-16 they cannot afford on the mastercard for reasons they can't even articulate let alone defend.

They're the same people who spend every afternoon hunched over their radios hanging on every word of Herr Limbaugh as heard over the whistle and clank of their government paid for respirators.

Some are saying the party got too far from its base in trying to be accomodationist and that's what lost the election. Some say if they had just been more faithful to the True Principles and not compromised them, they would have won the election. Almost nobody is saying that maybe they have to bend a little or they'll fracture.

I'm quite sure the governors will be accused of being apostates and heretics for saying "Hey. These people won an election-maybe we gotta work with them every now and again."

What's left of the Republican party is busily falling on their swords and ignoring the dicta attributed to Tacitus: He that fights and runs away, may turn and fight another day; but he that is in battle slain, will never rise to fight again.
