Subject: Pie attacks....
In reply to: Bill 's message, "symbolic assasinations" on 08:29:18 12/16/08 Tue

One reason for pie attacks is that they are rarely if ever
prosecuted. In the vast majority of cases, neither the police
or the victim persue criminal charges. Since of most of victims are usually prominent politicians, media personalities, or business people, few if any would want to
take the time to appear in court or want to endure the media
blitz that a pie throwing case would bring.
Most victims seem to take getting pied in stride,
wipe the pie off, and go about their business. BBC Television
personality Jeremy Clarkson got a banana-meringue pie in the
face courtesy of noted British environmentalist Rebecca Lush. Clarkson had just received an honourary degree from
Oxford-Brooke University and was walking outside the building with reporters still in his academic robes and hood
when Lush wielded her weapon of choice. Clarkson actually
thought it was part of the process until he was informed
of the pie thrower's identity. Clarkson, hardly the modest
type, walked away probably thinking how his legend was even
heightened by the event. Les Entartistes, the Montréal based pie throwing group maintains an informal poll
of people who should get pied. Newspaper mogul Conrad Black
was at the top of the list. G.W. Bush came in third place,
right ahead of singer Céline Dion.
