Those Morganthree wheelers were pretty close competition as well for the same reasons in re the taxes and economy not to mention the stabillity issues of conventional two wheelers.
Not only were they built and sold from 1909 to 1950 but with the exception of the chaqnge from the tiller steer first model and the addition of more seating, various body enclosures and such other improvements they were basically the same tricar as designed in the first year. They were also the first car to use and independent front suspension for the two front wheel steering setup makig them more stabile on narrow windy roads than conventional cars of the period. If they had any drawbacks it was the lack of doors and the cramped conditions when the top was up . But this did not stop them from being copied in many countries around the world and the Morgan still was in existence whe3n most other countries like france had stopped producing cycle cars of this type.
Citroen also made larger cars that were quite comfortable and made extensive use of forward design technologies that made them a leading seller in France and a popular european car for many pscale or utillitarian users.
Morgan probably stayed popular mostly on the sporting front mainly because they were one of the most successful tricar racing operations and the brits love their racers of all types and stripes.
