...the banks that is.

I worked in a corner of this industry for nearly five years until I couldn't take the drama any more. I did referrals for a number of debt settlement companies-you know, the late night infomercials that tell you how you can settle your credit card debt for fifty cents on the dollar?

Well. When they got to me the people were already being sued, and my job was to stall for time and look for ways to dodge the bullet.

It happened occasionally, because the creditor bar is very sloppy because they've had their way for hundreds of years. Also, a lot of courts were getting damned sick of NAF style arbitration and looking for reasons to tank cases. Also, if the person going after you is a secondary recovery house that has bought the account the chances are likely that you can kick their ass with the FDCPA, because they never have the paper records.

But in the main, the creditors get their way and push people into bankruptcy and make their lives a living hell for no good reason. The people who are trying to settle their debts are not the deadbeats who never intended to pay.

So now, the banks want to dump their toxic credit card debts and ask the government to do what they would not, which is work with people who want to pay them off?

And I'm sure they want cash on the barrelhead from the treasury as well.

Well. Fuck the sons of bitches where they breathe.
