Subject: Using a Kestrel KM40 for TTs

I've been using my trusty KM40 for mainly triathlons up until this year. I started doing more TTs with it and I love this bike. My PR on it for a 40k TT is 56:26. I was wondering if looking into getting a more traditional aero 700c wheel bike would make a diffence as far as time or comfort or the fact that my KM might be illegal in years to come (due to the lack of seat tube). I am a CAT 4 so I have some room to improve.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
