Except the lid used in that link is not what I would have called aero.....
I am wondering if its becuase on the track, his head position maybe more pointing downwards (looking at the track-line) which would leave a traditional aero lid with a stupid tailfin sticking up in the air like a dorsal fin..

Whereas on the road you can look more forward rather than down.
