No and no.

Muscle fibers are born either slow or fast (there is a small percentage that are intermediate, but for most people this is a very small percentage). By specifically training one type (or more likely by specifically avoiding certain types of activities), one can cause fibers to adjust somewhat in their firing properties. In your case, you will likely cause many of your fast twitch fibes to become somewhat 'slow-like'. They are not replaced, and they will never become as efficient at sustained firing as true slow-twitch fibers. That being said, it doesn't take much to maintain fast twitch fibers. Even occasional full effort contractions can go a long way towards maintaining fast twitch characteristics even in the face of prolonged endurance training.

Once done with your tour, returning to strength training, or doing short high intensity/full force contractions (i.e. sprinting) will cause the fast twitch fibers to return to their natural state.
