I never saw a neighborhood "change" as fast as Canarsie...Why did everyone sell their houses? If no one sold and stayed maybe you would still have your precious neighborhood...people "panic" and then a neighborhood caves in. All of you flipped your houses like rats deserting a sinking ship.

Don't complain, you all ran like chickens. You are the ones that made your neighborhood "change". You let the real estate companies carve Canarsie up like a turkey. Now you look back and wish for the old days, and blame other people.

Nah dude....you got it all wrong.
All of us in our 20's (at the time) were getting our own apartments & houses, as we moved out of our parents' homes.
We wanted wide open space in NJ, SI, FL or LI.
Nobody ran cause of the black people moving in.
People sell for normal reasons, and no young Bensonhurst guido was gonna move in & take our places.

Canarsie served it's purpose well.

Hopefully, the new residents will also have fond memories of it when they leave in 20 years.

Bilderseer
