Date Posted: 10:31:38 09/27/03 Sat Another thing I forgot - at some point, Neela saw Pratt and Chen talking and asked a nurse if they were together, and the nurse confirmed that they are. (Sorry that's out of context) So Carter and Abby go outside and discuss Their Relationship. He apologizes for leaving the way he did, but says he enjoyed his time in Africa. He describes it a little bit. Abby complains that they never talk. He was under the impression that they were talking RIGHT NOW, he says. Back inside, the phones are ringing and chaos reigns. Neela notices that no one is answering the phone, so she picks it up. She calls out that someone needs to speak to Dr. Carter, and the cranky front desk boys shout at her over the din of the crowd to just take a message. She tries to take a message, but then calls out, "They say it's important. Someone has died." And then it gets very quiet. Someone asks who died, and she says, "A Dr. Kovac. Luka Kovac." The camera pans over the faces of everyone as they look at each other meaningfully. Back outside, Carter and Abby begin to really fight. I don't remember what they were fighting about. Neela goes to check on her patient (the one with the VERY IMPORTANT BLOODWORK) but can't find her. She asks the aide in the room where the lady went; he doesn't know. As she leaves to look for her, Gallant interrupts her. Neela asks Gallant (who, by the way, is enjoying spending time with her as well) who Dr. Kovac is. Gallant explains that he was an attending here. Outside, Carter continues to rant at Abby, who is distracted by that nurse (the one that Luka slept with that gave him a hard time). The nurse calls Abby over - John doesn't notice that she's not listening to him. He finally glances at her, sees that she was talking to that nurse, and can tell by her face that something is reeeeeaaaaaallllllllllllly wrong. Inside, Chen yells out, "We've got a patient bleeding out!!!" Neela's patient is found in another room in a very large pool of blood. Chen demands to know whose patient she is - Gallant says she is his, but Neela takes responsibility. Gallant repeatedly takes the blame. Neela tries to explain that she had just been lookiong for her. An aide says he moved her in here, and Gallant says, "Did you TELL ANYONE??" the aide admits that he did not. Chen RAILS against Neela for leaving this patient alone long enough for this to have happened; Gallant tries to defend her. Neela is crushed. Cut to Carter in the lounge trying to speak to someone on the telephone. There is a language barrier. He's trying to find someone named Kovac. He asks Abby if she knows Luka's dad's name. (She doesn't). He hangs up the phone, frustrated, and starts gathering his things. "What are you doing?" asks Abby. "I left him there!" replies Carter. Inside, Pratt finds Neela sitting next to the body of the patient who had bled out. He tells her that she had a really great first day. She doesn't buy it. She asks him what a "TWA" is, and explains that the guy at the front desk had called her one when she walked in. Pratt rolls his eyes and admits that it stands for "Third World Assassin." Predictably, this adds to Neela's gloom. Pratt leads her out of that room and takes her to the room of the soccer mom, who survived. He says, "This is a 32-year-old mother of two who is alive tonight because of you." That makes her feel a little better. Abby doesn't want Carter to leave again, but he does anyway. As he runs off outside, Abby calls after him, "I CAN'T KEEP DOING THIS!!!" The end. [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |
