Subject: BtVS ep 43 (The Wish)

Before we go once more into the way back machine I need to make 3 small corrections on the first 3 episode reviews we've done. "Surprise is ep 25, Dopellgangland is ep 50 and Hush is ep 66" my apologies for the miscount.

Now here we go back in time on the way back machine to a land of wishes written so wonderfully by Marti Noxon.

Episode 43 The Wish written by Marti Noxon

We start off with Willow and Xander groveling to get their respective lovers back but Oz will have none of it just now and Cordy is pissed. She goes to school dressed to kill and plans to get back with her group but they shun her too after introducing her to the new girl Anya who is unimpressed by Harmony. Needless to say our Cordy has fallen from social grace thanks to Xander Harris and his hormones.

So Cordy gets a pendant from Anya as a gift, blames Buffy for everything wrong in her life then says "I wish Buffy Summers would have never came to Sunnydale." Anya turns into this ugly vein bulging demon and says simply "done."

And so begins the cute little ride that is "the wish" where an alter sunnydale is created, Buffy once more is killed by the master fulfilling the Pergamum codex in season 1. Angel is being tortured and led around by yes you got it vampire Willow. He is her unwilling puppy in this one. So anyway Giles who is pretty hip in this one finds out that to stop Anyanka the vengeance demon her power center must be destroyed and after seeing a green thing on her chest he gets hold of said center and destroys it. Big flash of light, time resets, everything is back to normal and none the wiser of what just happened!

Great episode this one was as were most in season 3. Cordy was great and the supposed to be guest star Emma Caulfield was so good that rather than a 3 ep shot we got her for over four years!! So rewind and rewatch and share your memories with us of this fine piece of TV history!

I rewatched this last night with a friend...ah yes the puppy and the vampire it was a great episode...one of the ones that made season 3 so endearing for me...Giles was way cool in the alter reality and Buffy was not...vastly different from herself...nice one for us to remember as we come up one the one year aniversary of the show's end!

this is one of my fav eps...but aren't all of season 3 favs???...lol anyway the demon was cool in this and maybe I was one of few who sympathized with Cordy...look what they'd all done to her over the preceeding few eps beforehand but then again she wasn't all nice to them the prior 2 seasons...anyway nice ep to look back on though I would have loved to see the demon get her necklace back and get a better part throughout the show though Anya did end up having a much more loved part than anticipated.
