We did get up to Mt. Rainier. Of course, we wasted an hour or so on the scenic railroad tour thingy on the way, which turned out to be a rather uneventful 1.5 hour train ride with a window of 20 seconds where a scenic view of Rainier was available. Dana actually has some awesome Rainier shots taken from the window of her airplane on the way in on a recent trip.

I was shocked to find out that relative to surrounding terrain, Rainier protrudes higher than Everest. Why have I never heard that before?
