The doctors that suggest that their patients go through genetic counceling have to relize that they are possibly changing their patients lives forever. Janet's feeling of anger it very common and a relative of hers that might have been spared could have a feeling of guilt.
The doctors and genetic councelors as a part of informing the patient about the risks and benefits of genetic testing, should make information available about qualified therapists or councelors that have experiance working with people who have shocking experiances.
