I agree with Liz in that, doctors and genetic councilers should inform their patients of the possible emotional effects that a genetic test can have on a patient.Doctors and genetic councekors are specialists in the science side of genetic testing. This being the case, I think that doctors and councelers should provide a list of qualified, experianced therapists to their patients in the information meeting about if a genetic test is right for threm. Armed with all of the information about the pros and cons of genetic testing and possible post test assistance, patients will be educated enough to make an informed decision on wether or not genetic testing is right for them.
