Especially in "Spike: After the Fall," Fred is presented as a total liability in LA Hell, a "Mary Ann" who must at all costs be prevented from emerging except during brief lulls when the threats to life & limb aren't immediate. What the hell happened to supergenius Fred who survived 5 years in a demon dimension (something she even mentions in "S:AtF" #1), picked up more than a passing knowledge of magic at W&H, has experience fighting demons w/the Fang Gang, & likes to build things--often things that are very useful in fighting those demons? I really hope they're building up to something that'll turn this whole perception on its head & remind Spike, Angel, "and the rest" @>) that there's more to Fred than pale, frail, running-away-from-things Winifred Burkle.
