Subject: Do demons originate on Earth?

I've sometimes wondered if the first demons, the Old Ones, evolved on Earth, from Earthly animals. When we've seen them, they do tend to bear some resemblance to reptiles (e.g. Olvikan, the Ghora demon in "Forever"), and sea creatures such as octopuses and squid (e.g. Illyria, back when she was an Old One). But if they did have their ultimate origins on Earth, why would they hold beings such as humans in such disdain and disgust? We've seen how pureblooded demons treat demons that are tainted by humanity.
