I don't see that big of a disconnect from, say, S7 "I AM the law" generalissima Buffy and this bankrobbing one myself. Not only that, Buffy's always had tendencies. Buffy ignored Willow's illegal hacking, ordered the theft of a rocket launcher from the army, broke into the Mayor's office with Faith, before she knew he was in cahoots with evil, I believe. Why? Because although all those things were technically illegal, they helped her in the fight against evil. Not that different a rationale than the victimless crime tactic she tried to pull on Willow here.

Besides that, she's got a superiority complex that's fed by heading a massive organization where everybody calls her Ma'am and defers to her (except Xander and I'm betting he's out of the loop). Nobody was going to question her if she decided that the benefit to the world outweighed the legalities again. We should remember that, in the past, it wasn't her inherent sense of morality that kept her from continuing to rob stores with Faith. She was pulled back from the brink of "want, take have" only because the immediate consequences were so bad. Imagine if they'd got the weapons before the cops showed, hadn't killed the mayor's assistant, and defeated the Eliminati with them.

As far as Joss eroticizing female madness, I certainly saw no sign of it with Robin. Fred exhibited no signs of that either, as I recall. Drusilla did have an erotic side to her, as did River occasionally and with her, maybe an incestuous vibe, but wouldn't their eroticism be more on the surface than women with more inhibitors and censors in place anyway? I worked briefly at a mental hospital and saw some women patients exhibiting erotic behavior from time to time. So why isn't that just realism from Joss, or at least a writer taking an opportunity to deal directly with certain issues by using people with few boundaries? Why does that have to be Joss being a little bit unhealthy? Do you have evidence of that?
