Subject: 2.08 A Day In The Death Of - No Spoilers
In reply to: Celebaelin 's message, "New Series of Torchwood starts Wed 16th Jan" on 01:35:36 01/03/08 Thu

Despite some parallels to A Day In The Death Of Joe Egg thematically this was pretty much a non-event just of itself. In that it functions as a bridging episode to normalise the characters after recent events and to outline the detailed personal implications of the recent wierdness I suppose it was necessary but my feeling is that some sort of accompanying plot would have been good! The alternating hit miss pattern of recent weeks is getting a bit trying to be frank and I can only keep my fingers crossed that more is made of the remaining episodes of this series. On the plus side the story arc that began at the end of Reset made it through two whole episodes so maybe we'll see more made of this approach. Additionally the exploration of Owen's psyche in the circumstance of confronting his new role is of interest to regulars. The underlying message of heterosexual relationships being doomed seems to be with us to stay in Torchwood; I trust enough can be made of this idea to make it worth while for the straight audience - I have my doubts though. Oh, and Owen's character assassination of Snowy (aka Milou) was totally out of line!
