Well, for all we know the little girl could've been about to lay down a bunt. The point was she's no longer afraid to be in the batter's box, no longer intimidated by the pitcher or overwhelmed by the situation, no longer concerned with the jibes and taunts she has no doubt heard her whole life from people wishing to discourage her from finding joy in the game. She has instead, total confidence in her control of the situation, which is exactly what the protos feel in the hellmouth and the scoobs upstairs. They've made their choice and they know what they're doing.

Besides, Ubervamps may be big and strong, but they lack experience. The Ubies have never faced a slayer and her friends before. The scoobs have fought many a hopeless battle against an unbeatable foe. They know what to do.
