Subject: looking for clues in season buffy six: 'normal again'

OK- here's my thing- i'm not that good at reading too deep into these things, so i seek some wisdom, clarification, etc. I'm sure this question has been discussed here, before, but dammed if i can find it:

I have a friend who insists that buffys life in the asylum is reality and life as the sunnydale slayer is her delusion- i have trouble finding indications to support either point of view; I always fall back on my own wimpish and pained protests, whereas he just likes the evil feeling of watching me feebly thrash and protest.

facts and clues to support either point of view are welcome and appreciated. thanks
