I don't think it's so much betrayal (although Giles's actions can be seen as such and certainly were by Buffy) as the difficulty of knowing the right thing to do in war when so many people as Faith put "pulling for the good guys" have been on the dark side. There is are also are the rights of individual verses the rights of society questions that surround both Anya and Spike.

My personal view on Buffy vs the scoobies and the potentials is that Buffy needed the check of people saying she was wrong but she also needed Spike's encouragment so she didn't sink into total despondancy. Although I think Anya, Rona and Wood acted vindictively.
