Subject: what does Joss and co. have against leprochauns

In a world of demons and living fairy tales and gods and spirits the buffyverse seems to deny the existance repeadedly. In "faith hope and mr trick" buffy busts in and tells giles that there are two things she does not believe in coincidences and leprochauns. giles assures here that faith and kakistos could have arrived here by coincidence. buffy they askes if shes right about leprochauns and giles says as far as he knows. he has studied the supernatural for decades so he should be a good authority. fast forward to angel episode "double or nothing" fred and gunnn are talking to a deamon coulple whose house is being inhabited by something. gunn off handedly asks wheather its a lep and the demon states that they do not exist. and the 3rd i can think of again on the last season of angel . the episode that introduces the werewolf female( sorry i dont remember the title) again gun is reading a menu in the restaurant and again makes a off hand comment about leprocaun patta or some thing . the owner of the establishment again states flat out that they do not exist. in such a varied universe why pick on the wee irish folk. if its an inside joke does anyone know why and what for. just wondering. sorry for any spelling errors.....peace
