Well, if we take the notion of the ubervamps being to vampires what Neanderthals are to humans even further, then vamps *didn’t* evolve from ubervamps. Rather, the ubervamps branched off from whatever the “source” demon was, and the source demon later left behind the regular vamps. Thus, ubervamps would be cousins to contemporary vampires, rather than their direct ancestors (which would explain the level of hostility between the two groups of bloodsuckers).
