In one sense, the sun rising today caused me to go to work. It's part of a chain of events, and but for each one of those events, I wouldn't be here.

That's not really what we usually mean by cause, though. In the case of Buffy's S6 anomie, magic was a "but for" cause, but the direct cause was being pulled out of heaven.

Here are some seemingly significant spells which lacked repercussions in my narrower sense:

Various episodes: The "re-locking" spells to keep out vamps
Gingerbread: Giles reveals the demon
Choices: Willow saves her life with a floating pencil
Hush: Willow and Tara save their own lives
WAY: Willow and Tara locate the real Buffy and conjure the device to reverse the body switch
WTWTA: W&T hold the dead children's spirits while Xander goes to stop the sex-a-thon
OOMM: Buffy trances to find the real Dawn
Intervention: Giles does the hokey pokey
Spiral: Barrier spell
WotW: Willow brings Buffy back
TG: Willow restores Tara's sanity

Having this many counterexamples seems to me to create a real problem for the "always repercussions" theme. YMMV.
