Where do you think Angel's emotional development is going this year, so far?
I wish to beg off for the time being. My approach to analysis has always been from an historical perspective. I would like to see the entire season, then go back and read the episodes again. This is the approach I always took with BtVS and Angel (made easier since I did not start watching until after both series had concluded and was able to watch the dvd’s straight through). I like the first time viewing to be just an emotional enjoyment of the experience with more critical analysis deferred until a repeated viewing. After watching/reading a second time, I then look for opinion here and see how my impressions mesh with what other people are saying. It is not that I don’t have my own opinion (although I have admitted I am a bit slow on the uptake sometimes), it’s just that I find solidifying my opinion easier when I have an established framework on which to hang it on. I know this sounds like wimping out – I do see characters arcs, it’s just I really need to reread and I would like to just start at the beginning and immerse myself through the conclusion. But I am really, really enjoying this season and am anxious for each succeeding episode. I am just amazed at the amount of work you all put in, just the coordination itself must be an enormous logistical effort.
