Probably in another 2-3 years, if you are talking flat-panel HDTV stuff, like plasmas and LCD's. If you are talking traditional CRT (picture tube) based HDTV's they're already a bargain, as long as you have room for the physical bulk.

For what it's worth re: pricing, I paid $1100 for my Panasonic 27" CRT set about 15 years ago-- the retail was about $1400.

In inflation adjusted figures, that's easily over $2000 today.

And back in the mid-70's when I worked for a local TV & appliance store, a top-of the line 25" console color set was between $700-$900.

WHile there's a wide range of pricing in consumer electronics today, one thing for sure is that you pay far less for far more than any time in history, so that's a good thing.
