Blaise scratched Einar's ear in approval after the horse snapped at Swiftwind. He thought angry thoughts as he glared at the knight. "Serves von Braun right, the meddling fool. Let the poor girl rest. Let her have a few moments of sweet oblivion before she wakes to remember her parents have died. Noble or not, loss of that magnitude hurts." He knew. He'd lost his parents when he was seven. What he wouldn't have given then to slip off into unconsciousness for a while. He glanced at the girl, worry in his eyes. She looked so fragile, so innocent, so naive. No one would guess to look at her that she'd just taken a life. But then, people are rarely what they seem. She was probably a greedy little beast underneath.
