PFA have set 1st December sa the date for strike action - the Gills play Man City on the Friday and will not be effectd. Here's the ull BBC SPORT report:

The Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) has served notice that strike action will commence on 1 December 2001.
PFA chief executive Gordon Taylor said that all league games with cameras present, live or recorded, would be affected.

The first match to be affected is Manchester United's home game against Chelsea.

Taylor announced the move after the latest round of talks between the Premier League and the PFA broke down in Manchester on Tuesday.

It's a sad, sad day for football

Bradford chairman Geoffrey Richmond
"Football should carry on as normal - it's about television," Taylor told BBC's Radio Five Live.

"There is no reason why football games cannot take place.

"We feel there is a hidden agenda here of trying to diminish the PFA," Taylor added.

However, Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore claims that the PFA actions are illegal.

"Because of the PFA's action, we must now respond in order to protect the game and its competitions," said Scudamore.

"We will have to take all the steps necessary to prevent what we consider to be illegal action."

The latest offer by the Premier League stands at £50m of television revenue over three years.

The PFA want a minimum of 5%, which is an estimated £27m each year.

Taylor has indicated that they will be willing to re-enter negotiations, if the Premier League show signs of increasing their offer.

"There was an easy way to sort this out - to give us the same share."

"We feel this is a last resort, but that is how strongly our members feel," said Taylor.

In a recent ballot of PFA members, 99% voted in favour of strike action.
